Divorced, but still clinging on September 11, 2010

4 years after their high-profile wedding, Cheryl and Ashley Cole have confirmed their divorce to the world. It comes as little surprise to those of us who have had to bear the tabloid coverage of the couple over the past number of months as initially, Ashley was caught cheating before they later split up. Thank God, the couple spent little time arguing over the division of their wealth, for this could have potentially drawn out the saga for years to come.

One would assume now that Cheryl is free and single again that she would resume her name Tweedy. One would be wrong. It appears that Cheryl will not be called Tweedy. This is not due to the fact it’s a horrendous name. She will continue as Cole, because she is worth more as Cheryl Cole. She has worked tirelessly over the last number of years building up her Cheryl Cole brand which is worth far more than if she changes it back to Tweedy. While holding onto the name Cole may earn her a few extra bucks, it seems daft to on the one hand be splitting all ties from her husband but equally clinging onto his name just for money’s sake! The situation is worsened by the reality that she isn’t in dire need of cash. Cheryl is said to have earned a cool 20 million pounds along with custody of her two dogs (Known as Buster and Ccco, who will also will be holding onto the name Cole)

So Cheryl is on the market again. Yet, is retaining a name she doesn’t actually own. Can Ashley now argue that all future earnings under the “Cheryl Cole” brand now actually belong partly, to him? It’s not beyond belief! She is just another cash obsessed celebrity. I hope she still has the 1 million she got from Ok magazine for her wedding photos. If, she could learn to sing it may help her career instead of name gimmicks.

Single, just not by name!

In legal terms, there are now no ties between the couple. Yet, Cheryl appears stuck in the past in order to progress with the future. Move on Woman, seriously!

Cheryl Cole-Tweedy has been named the worlds best dressed celebrity for the second year in a row. That may not sound very impressive, but when one remembers that she has beaten off the likes of Rihanna, Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) and Leighton Meester (Also Gossip Girl), it certainly is somewhat impressive.

However, even though over the last year, Cheryl has been seen wearing Giles Deacon, Marios Schwab and Richard Nicoll. Is she really the fashion queen?

Even though the outfit she wore for the launch of ” Fight for this love” was Julian McDonald, Is it really fashionable? In the video she did wear those hideous pants, something which looks like it was taken straight off tigers back. Of course, lets not forget that orange number above,  a total disaster.

Then of course there was the X-factor fashion stakes. Did she really beat off Danni Minogue ? (Who got 6th in the rankings) Here are some examples of my doubts…

OMG!

I’m very unsure if Cheryl has got the right award, She should have got the fashion bravery award. The above are not highlights of the fashion year, they are overpriced designer goods, that reeks of trying too hard. Personally, I think the fashion police need to have a word cos, she’s got the world fooled. Then again this is an award by a female magazine, clearly they reward those that take risks.

Number three, this year, is our very own Blake Lively. To be fair, her platform for fashion is extremely powerful. Seriously, has Gossip Girl, ever made her wear the same outfit? I sincerly doubt it.

Fashion is a powerful statement, some have it, so don’t. Victoria Beckham has slipped from 3rd to a poor 8th. Clearly everybody now views her for what she is- an ugly, old, poorly dressed nobody. Expect a fightback everyone, this lion wont go away.

So its confirmed.

The inevitable has happened.

Am I distressed? Shocked? Appalled? Worried? Surprised? Weepy? Quite Frankly, without trying to sound comical, no.

The 27-year-old has of course (for those of you living under a rock) finally ended her torrid “marriage” (If you can call it that) with footballer Ashley Cole. It’s reported he had up to 6 different affairs. How could a break up not be the outcome I ask? Many people are joined facebook groups pondering we “anyone” would want to do the dirty on Cheryl Cole…well does one really have to answer that question?  He claims she was simply never around. Do I believe that- more or less. David Beckham used the same excuse after his affair. Both are similar in saying that their wives were away for long periods straining their relationships and making them feel somewhat lonely! Of course, its daft to suggest that an affair is the solution to any marital problem. However my argument remains there is always two sides to every story.

Whats even more fascinating in my view is the fact she has already publicly admitted she will not try to rob him of every cent he has. On face value a person would see that as the sign that she wants to move on quickly with her life- forgetting this abominable chapter. Furthermore the fact that Ashley himself has admitted he was dissatisfied for some time, suggests to me that this was a foregone conclusion for some time.

It must be remembered that Cheryl got married at just 23. An age when generally someone is just entering the market, not leaving. The couple were dating only a year before they got engaged. Does this not strike anyone else as slightly rushed? Is it not equally striking that 23 is substantially below the average age of marriage? Like many celebrity marriages they were up against it from the start. It is of course a pity its failed to work out. Now she once again has to revert to that horrific surname “Tweedy” But, I’m sure all this proves diamonds arent forever.
